LOW DENSITY RESIDENTIAL

SPANISH REVIVAL RESIDENCE

LOCATION: South Pasadena

OWNER: Pickett Family

This South Pasadena hillside home was designed by Lisa Pendleton, AIA for a couple who wanted a truly authentic Spanish Revival home. Every aspect of the home was custom detailed to create a one of kind home in the spirit of Julia Morgan (a favorite architect of both Lisa and the Owners.)

Highlights of the design include wall tracery over windows and openings, a three story central entry tower with circular stairs of custom cast stone that connect the various levels, thick smooth plaster walls with deeply recessed windows of dark stained wood and an extra wide plank front door with wrought iron grillwork over the view portal.

The living room is the dramatic center piece of the house with its two story high beamed cathedral ceiling, hardwood floors, custom tiled fireplace and large arched picture window framing the stunning mountain views beyond. Lisa even included a balcony from the master bedroom that overlooks the living room below, a wonderful design feature she had seen incorporated in a Paul Williams’ home.

All modern luxuries were incorporated as well including a large kitchen, butler’s pantry and breakfast nook with cherry wood cabinetry, Sub-Zero built-in refrigerators and Miele appliances.

The rear of the home opens on to a lush patio with fountain spa and outdoor barbecue.
